Vendor Guidelines for 2020
The continuation of the Vernon Hills Park District Farmers Market relies on our vendors and shoppers to follow a critical new set of health and safety guidelines due to COVID-19.
This season we will be operating under the In-and-Out Market Guidelines recommended by the Illinois Farmers Market Association. These guidelines are being put in place to create a safe shopping experience for our customers and vendors.

In-and-Out Farmers Market
Vendor Guidelines for 2020
The continuation of the Vernon Hills Park District Farmers Market relies on our vendors and shoppers to follow a critical new set of health and safety guidelines due to COVID-19.
This season we will be operating under the In-and-Out Market Guidelines recommended by the Illinois Farmers Market Association. These guidelines are being put in place to create a safe shopping experience for our customers and vendors.
- Follow prescribed state and local food safety procedures for all products offered for sale.
- Recommend two staff per booth; one assembling orders and the other conducting transactions.
- Only vendors and their staff may handle products. Customers must not touch any produce or products until after they have been purchased.
- Stagger booths to ensure adequate space for social distancing while shopping and waiting in line.
- Sanitary gloves and face masks are required for all farmer’s market vendors.
- Try to set up tables with you and your registers at the front of your space, and have food/products behind you. The point is to keep people from touching any products, and the only way to do that successfully is to have zero products upfront and in customers’ reach. Ask customers to tell you what they want, and you get the products for them.
- Set products on tables rather than in crates or boxes.
- Put less out, restock more. Put signs up saying there is more in back.
- Minimize cash transactions.
- Try to wipe down card readers between transactions.
- Create a 3-foot barrier between your tables and customer lines.
- If possible, implement sneeze guards or ropes for all tables.
- Chalkboard product lists are strongly encouraged so that customers know what you have – since they won’t see your product spread as they normally would.
- Follow simple CDC rules for washing hands.
- Do not hand vendors payments directly. Place cash and credit cards on the table for vendors to pick up.
- Please consider a contactless payment option like Venmo or Apple Pay - which allows you to hover your phone over their wifi-enabled reader, but not touch.
